Club Overview

Celtic Football Club was founded in 1887 by an Irish Marist brother, Brother Walfrid, with the charitable mission of alleviating poverty among the Irish immigrant community in Glasgow's East End. The club played its first match in 1888 (a 5–2 win over Rangers) and joined the Scottish league from its inception in 1890, never having been relegated since. Celtic has long been known for an attacking and entertaining style of play, emphasizing skillful, offensive football. To Celtic's passionate supporters, the club is "more than just a football club" – it's a symbol of community and identity.

Recent Form

Celtic have enjoyed a period of renewed domestic dominance in recent seasons. After a brief setback in 2020-21, the club has reclaimed its position at the top of Scottish football. Under Brendan Rodgers, Celtic secured another Scottish Premiership title in 2023-24, making it 11 league titles in the last 12 seasons. The club has also consistently competed in the UEFA Champions League, though advancing beyond the group stage has proven challenging in recent campaigns.

Fan Culture

Celtic's supporters are renowned for their passionate support, rich traditions, and the intense atmosphere they create. The Green Brigade ultras contribute vibrant tifo displays and loud chants at matches. Celtic Park, nicknamed "Paradise" by fans, is famous for its electric atmosphere, particularly during European nights when supporters coordinate full-stadium sing-alongs of "You'll Never Walk Alone" - a tradition so iconic that Celtic fans have been ranked among the best in the world.

Brendan Rodgers

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic for a second stint as manager after the departure of Ange Postecoglou in 2023. During his first tenure at Celtic (2016-2019), Rodgers led the club to back-to-back domestic trebles and established an attacking, possession-based style of play. His return has continued Celtic's domestic success, with the club winning the Scottish Premiership in 2023-24 - his third league title as Celtic manager.
